Has been showing ability at the trials, finishing second to a subsequent winner in the latest hitout at Melton and winning here prior. The ace draw gives him the chance to kick off with a win. LOW LIE THE FIELDS (5) showed good improvement second-up, beaten less than 4m as runner up at this venue. Draws a couple of spots wider but should strip fitter again so may progress further. RIDETHELIGHTNING (4) did a good job for fourth in a decent line-up here last start. Could measure up here. THE PASO DOBLE (2) started at big odds on debut but produced an encouraging effort for second at Kilmore. Open to natural improvement so could go one better. WATCH THE BAY (3) has had a series of second row draws so may do better from this barrier.
