EL TORNADO (5) did some work but proved too good at Melton two back then led and kept going to deliver again at his last start at Ballarat, getting home by 6 metres. Draws wider and is up in grade but is going well enough to land the hat trick. COLTRANE (4) has not raced for four-and-a-half months but looks forward enough for the return after two trials, winning the latest. Ended last campaign by winning two of his last four starts and has won when fresh before so could prove hard to beat on his return. LORD LOGAN (6) bombed the standing start last time but returns to a mobile here and won the only time he attempted this circuit and distance. EMMWALLEN (2) got it wrong fresh but has won a trial since and draws well.
