MATTIE NEVIN (8) was half a metre away in second at Patterson Park over 2600m last start at her first run back from a spell. Has to contend with a very wide draw. Tackles a similar assignment, and she can take it to the next level. FOLIEJON STAR (7) had no space late when finishing seventh last start over 2600m at Patterson Park, beaten 5.5 metres, after a good third at Rangiora the run prior. The driver has some work to do from this wide starting position, but he can still win this. FITZTHEBILL (11) is worth another chance after a last-start seventh over 1800m at Cromwell two weeks ago. COUNTRY GOLD (9) was a brave all the way winner on the first day, and he is also in contention, although the draw makes his job a bit tougher.
