MUNNY THE MUNSTER (2) continued his good form when runner-up after racing parked from this barrier in last week's heat. Yet to miss the top-two this time in having won easily when resuming Shepparton before missing by a head in the NSW Derby. Reliable trotter who will be at his peak and this should pan out well for him from this barrier. THE PREACHER (11) progressed off his resuming second in Victoria to score a strong 8m win over MUNNY THE MUNSTER here last week. The back row draw poses more of a challenge but he looks a colt on the up. HAMMER (9) hasn't raced since he finished fourth in the G1 Breeders Crown Final at Melton in December but was readied with a solid trial. Goes well fresh and draws for a trail. Manners let HOWDY MATE (10) down when last seen in the NSW Derby and he may need some luck from the back row but he placed twice at Group 1 level last season so is capable when on his game.
