MERITORIOUS (6) has clear upside from his debut third at this track, where he was beaten a length and a half by Skjaldmo after travelling well and striking interference around the home turn. Up in trip should suit now and he has the profile to improve. PERFECT DISMOUNT (7) was beaten a nose by the in-form Mr Natural at Geelong and is now third-up, with barrier 1 and recent race fitness in his favour. Sets up well. OVERCAST (3) resumes off a close Pakenham trial after placing at all three starts last campaign. Will get over further but can well fresh.
