Belmont Race 1 - Drummond Golf Plate
RIFLEMAN (4) was scratched last week due to the track conditions and comes back to 1000m here, though his debut was sensational in defeat. He flew late to be 1.3L off the winner and hinted that he's an above-average galloper. Likely to get back again but watch for him late in the race. SUPERRIFIC (5) was only fair on debut back in April, though his two trials this time in work have been superb. Pike was on board for one of those and he reunites with him for his return. The barrier is a query, but with what we've seen at the trials, he can return with a bang. BURNING BRIDGES (2) showed glimpses in his debut campaign and judging by his trial coming into this, he hasn't taken a backward step. He'll need some luck from the barrier, but if the breaks come, he's good enough to feature. QUEDJINUP (8) was very impressive on debut at Bunbury as the favourite, and that rating is very strong. Has to be included here. BEAUTY ELITE (11) has claims off a couple of nice trials leading in.
