Seven entered in the debutant stakes although MAALEFUSHI (5) has actually had a run having bumped into one better in the Maribyrnong Trial Stakes at Flemington. The winner there looks a nice type and the race experience counts for plenty. ROYAL PRESS (2) is the pick of the newcomers, a colt by Alabama Express for the McEvoy yard. He was ridden out but closed off strongly to win a recent trial over SOLDI (6) who showed speed and wasn't asked for as much of an effort late. Both have claims, watch the late betting. STONE SKYRIDER (3) is a Home Affairs colt on debut for the Hayes yard who can figure first time out for a top juvenile yard.
