LOS ALAMITOS (4) ran on stoutly to be beaten just a length over this course and distance two back. Extended to 1650m at Doomben last start and found that beyond him. Given a four-week break and coming back to 1400m is the right move. Big chance to break through. PEARLS IN JUNE (11) produced an eye-catcher when second-up last time out, coming from next to last on the bend to finish third over 1200m at this circuit. Finished fourth at the same stage last prep over today's trip but is more furnished now. Ready to peak. ASTERN EFFORT (1) has recorded five straight minor placings, the latest over 1350m at Doomben in a strong form race. Awkwardly drawn but hard to rule out on those recent efforts. The query runner is SWING STATE (6) first-up from a 23-week spell. Raced three times in the maiden prep, all at the NSW provincials, and improved at each outing. Market the best guide. DON'T DOUBT MISSY (9) has started her career in good style. Gets back but watch for her late.
