BOSS MODE (3) is the horse to beat after a strong start to the campaign, winning a CL2 at Doomben before going under by just 0.6L there as a well-supported favourite but had excuses after racing wide throughout. Peaking now he can return to winning ways. FLARESSENCE (8) looks one of the main dangers, coming through stronger Open Saturday company at this track after a dominant Mdn win at the Sunny Coast, and her record at the distance and on wet ground reads well. Expect her to be handy under the light weight and prove hard to run down. URBAN LAD (6) resumes off two trials and was last seen finishing third in a BM68 on heavy ground at Ipswich. Is another with good tactical speed and gets the key booking of Thompson. REWRITE (4) is another that returns and has been gelded during the break. Has shown promising signs thus fair and could just go on with it this campaign.
