Flemington Race 1 - Darley Maribyrnong Plate (G3)
We kick off Melbourne Cup day with the 2yo's and ROYAL PRESS (1) sets the standard after a game runner-up effort in the Debutante Stakes at Caulfield when hard in the market, beaten a nose in solid time. Have to respect the one with experience. FUNDED (7) is a Farnan filly for the Freedman yard who looked very sharp winning a recent jumpout from the front. Looks one best suited to 1000m and should be hard to catch. AMSTERDAM (2) might be the opposite - an expensive Anamoe colt for the Maher yard who powered to the line in a recent Cranbourne jumpout. Suspect he'll get further but he looks to have an engine. AMELIA'S AFFAIR (6) is a well bred filly by Home Affairs for the Archibald yard who trialled well in Sydney and warrants respect. LA LA LILLY (8) is a Nicconi filly for the Hayes yard who are always hard to beat with their 2yo's.

Was well-supported at debut, 2nd in a small field in the LR Debutante Stakes at Caulfield on October 14 over 1000m, nose behind Soldi with 58kg at $3. All important race experience and that will count for plenty.
