Gold Coast Race 3 - Tab Ken Russell Memorial Classic (G3)
BOOMELLI (10) stepped up to Listed company last start and was too good in the heavy going, taking out the Calaway Gal over this distance at Eagle Farm. Her two best figures have come on rain-affected going so she is the one to beat with conditions to suit again. BERZELIUS (6) overcame an awkward start to win with a bit in hand on debut over 1110m at Doomben last time. Big leap from midweek company to this but he is in an astute stable and has plenty of scope for improvement. SILKEN SALUTE (1) gave away six lengths at one stage but finished all over them to score impressively at Eagle Farm three weeks ago. Coming back in distance is a query but with plenty of speed on he is one to watch out for. UNLOADING (2) gave away too much start over 1110m at Doomben recently but did go through the gears nicely in the latter stages. Can feature over this slightly longer journey. ST GOTTHARD (4) was heavily supported on debut at Warwick Farm and just prevailed. Harder here but worth some thought.
