Gosford Race 7 - Airpack Hcp (C1)
Tough race with many in-form and lightly raced runners converging. POMPATUS (2) goes on top after he ran on stoutly to be beaten a head over 1500m at Kembla last start. Rock hard fit after two runs back and gets to 1600m at the right time of the prep. OUI FLOURISH (6) returned to form last time out when just half a length from the winner in a Class 1 over 1350m at Wyong. Expect they will go forward out to this trip from an inside gate with blinkers on. Sure to give backers a sight. PAPPA BLUE (7) started at $2.25 and got the job done in a 1400m Scone maiden recently. Has only raced three times and is improving rapidly. Easy to make a case that he can win again despite the class rise. THE WARRIOR (4) was ridden with more intent last start and battled on bravely but just missed over 1350m at Wyong. Cherry ripe after two runs back - whether he can run a strong 1600m is the query. Last start Rosehill maiden winner FIREBALL MISS (3) has plenty of scope for improvement at start three.
