Gosford Race 5 - The Coast Raceday 9 May (Bm64)

VARJAK (2) was beaten just half a length in a Class 1 over this course and distance two back. Stepped up to 2000m and was outclassed in the Group 2 Tulloch Stakes subsequently. Back to a more suitable race today so despite 60kgs he looks the one to beat. STELLAR RHONDA (8) started favourite and dug deep to get the prize in heavy going first-up over 1400m at Nowra. Big class rise today but she strips fitter and is lightly raced so there is plenty more to come. BONDI BLOSSOM (6) stalked the leader then went home a touch too well at her latest appearance over 1500m at Newcastle. Nicely drawn and Small's claim brings her in well again. I AM WILD (7) has been racing well this prep, with a month or more between runs the key. Last start winner over the mile here and another big run looks on the cards. MONKHANA (1) improved sharply second-up last time out in town. Key runner third-up and back at the provincials.
