Kyneton Race 5 - The 1860 & Lancefield Hotel Cup (56)

AVONVIEW (8) has a poor winning strike rate - 3 from 37 - but it's been hard to knock the recent form and this is no tougher. The inside alley could be the key to getting back into the winners' stall. BEARBRASSBLACKFISH (1) contested some better races than this early in the prep and then improved big time last start back in grade a touch. He'll be at peak fitness now, just has the wide gate to overcome. WINGS OF CARMEN (4) has been similarly consistent of late, going down just half a length last weekend, and the fact he's backing up can be considered a positive. FINAL QUARTER (12) progressed nicely last time out to finish just a nose from the winner in second over 1600m at Swan Hill. Looks well placed, so expect another big run. REAL INTRIGUE (7) is experiencing a long win drought, extended last start when 10th over 2100m at Stony Creek, but had been adequate at the few runs prior and draws to advantage here.
