FOX PHIRE (7) only made her debut on Wednesday last week, but there was a lot to like about the performance. Settled one out one back before peeling three-wide rounding the turn and while she couldn't reel in the leader, she stuck at the task to only go down narrowly. With that run under the belt the extra trip shouldn't be an issue and race experience could prove crucial in a race with a few first-starters. One of those debutants is HYDROTHERMAL (3) who was a narrow winner of a recent Caulfield trial but the performance was better than it looked after travelling wide throughout. GRADIVUS (2) is another first-starter who looked good leading all the way to win his latest jumpout. SOUND SYSTEM (5) is the most experienced horse in the race and was well-backed to start $2.80 last time, which suggests the first run impressed a few and he probably deserves another chance. ARAGOG (1) will be better for the debut, when not a lot went right, and can improve.
