Tricky race. VESPASIAN (8) has been okay in two runs back, switching to synthetic at Ballarat second up when beaten three lengths. He'd shown some ability last campaign and gets every hope trailing the speed from a soft draw. WOLVES' DEN (9) was another to make improvement second up when getting into the placings at Cranbourne, albeit he was beaten a fair margin. Up in trip again should suit and he should take catching. ASHINA (10) did enough fresh at Ballarat Synthetic when in the market and should be fitter. She'll get a fair way back and be hitting the line strongly. ONLY OPERA (12) ran well fresh here and should come on plenty from that. She should improve up in trip. FRANK WHISPER (14) was better at Bairnsdale second up and can continue to progress.
