Morphettville Race 5 - Sportsbet Dequetteville Stakes (L)
ALMOST AN ANGEL (2) comes through the strongest 2YO formline in the country, the Blue Diamond Stakes, and was entitled to tire late after covering ground three-wide without cover, though her Prelude run behind Streisand and co reads superbly for this. Has been freshened with 35 days and back to a far easier assignment. Gets her chance despite having a sharp one to run down. NEVER ORDINARY (1) was ultra-impressive at start two when leading throughout and putting them away with plenty in hand. Draws to advantage and will take catching, though the market has certainly found her. VERZAIN (5) missed by a lip on debut at Murray Bridge in January before heading for a break and has jumped out well in readiness but meets a couple of high-quality fillies here. NOLABELL (9) is a D'Argento filly on debut who has progressed nicely through her lead-up work and is worth keeping in mind, while CELESTARIA (8) is another debutant who has shown enough to warrant monitoring at an each-way quote.
