SCHUHBECK (5) sets the standard through consistency, having filled a placing at each of three starts this season and coming off Broome 3yo+ Class 2 form at 1615m and 1435m. The return to 1000m is the clear question, but this is an easier assignment than those provincial contests and he brings the most reliable recent profile. POWER TO RULE (7) is harder to trust off two plain Broome runs, including a last-start eighth beaten just over nine lengths, yet the class relief, first-time blinkers and solid rider record keep him in the main mix. GINGERIFFIC (6) has not offered much late at her past two, though she gets in light with the claim and may be suited enough to run into the money if she finds a sharper finish. OLE GRANDE (1) has the recent win on the page, beating Coupe Deburj at Broome two back, and his latest defeat had the excuse of racing wide throughout. The top weight and unplaced 1000m record temper the winning push, but he remains a genuine place player.
