JESA LUPA (2) is the one to beat despite a plain sixth at Belmont last time, when he was near the top of betting but faded late. His previous effort when fifth, beaten two and a half lengths after making solid inroads from well back, reads well enough for this, and the assessed time profile gives him a firm winning platform. ON CUE (4) is the main danger after finishing fifth at Ascot, beaten just over two lengths at generous odds, and he has the added appeal of a prior win at this track plus a rider who has already won on him. ASTONISHER (7) is not easy to trust off a last placing in BM54+ company, but the return to 1600m is more suitable and her Belmont run two back had some merit after difficulty obtaining clear running. SECRETCHINO (5) improved at York when fifth in a BM44+, beaten two lengths after beginning slowly, and she is already a track-and-trip winner, so her best version is good enough to keep her in the money.
