BELIEVE IN ANGELS (1) sets up nicely, with a solid fourth at Eagle Farm following a luckless run here when wide and held up. He is proven at this distance, handles wet ground and looks well placed back in easier company. PERLE DE CHOCOLAT (5) was only run down late in a BM65 at Toowoomba and her earlier BM70 run had some excuses after an awkward start and wide passage. Drops back sharply in trip off just under a month between runs but did kick off the prep a pillar-to-post win here. UNFAITHFUL (6) resumes with two trials behind her, was close enough in stronger form around this track last campaign and has enough to her 1000m record to be competitive fresh. SLING (8) is another that resumes and has shoulders good form over this track and trip. Thompson's booking is also a clear advantage.

The start prior was even more concerning, finishing a distant last in a BM60. He has won at this track and distance and blinkers come off, but recent form gives him a fair bit to turn around. This is harder company, and his previous BM60 run at Beaudesert was a last placing, beaten over 11 lengths at long odds. The 2kg claim assists and he has won at the trip, but he must reproduce that last-start spark in a deeper race. Prefer others this time.

Had some excuses when ninth in a BM58 at this track, beginning slowly and being held up late before finishing three and a half lengths from Sapana's Pearl. He had earlier placed at Toowoomba in a BM55 at long odds, but his overall winning strike rate is modest and he is winless from four goes at this track and distance. Can't recommend.
