MERCY (13) was not far away in a better field in her penultimate start, and then was a fast-closing fourth here over 1200m nearly 3 weeks ago. The extra 140m can make all the difference, and from a handy gate, she is the one to beat in a modest field. MISCHIEF (8) showed enough in her initial prep, and she will be a lot stronger this year. She may already be looking for more ground, but is resuming without any public trials, so she should be able to get away with a sharp sprint fresh up in a field like this. Each way. PIPPASJEWEL (10) has been given plenty of time to mature, and looked ready to race when winning her most recent of 4 trials last month. This field is not strong, and any market confidence will be worth following. LUCKY PENNY (11) should be peaking third up from a spell, and with some luck from a wide gate, she can figure in the top 4 at a price.
