SCORCHING BEAUTY (8) was never in contention when 7 lengths from the winner in sixth over 1400m at Ballarat last start, a less impressive effort than her fifth at Geelong the run before. Has been campaigning in much better races than this, so now at peak fitness from a good draw she looks ready to break through. MORE GIVE IT (1) resumes today after filling a minor placing at his only appearance last prep at Echuca over 1300m on April 16. Hasn't had a public trial ahead of them but races on speed, which can be an advantage here. SHAYKHLISLAMOVA (7) progressed nicely last time out to finish just 1.2 lengths from the winner in third over 1550m at Manangatang. Nicely placed to give this a mighty shake. ROUGHNUT (3) missed the placings two runs back then did well last start but found one better over 1400m at Balranald, beaten only a head. WATER MILL (4) is one of two first-starters in the race and looked good when second in a trial back, so could show up.
